Why Agents Charge You for a Free Service
Some local "facilitators" survive precisely because people assume government portals are confusing or unreliable. They charge a fee to type your CNIC into the same website you could open yourself, or worse, they collect your CNIC copy and a fee while promising to "guarantee" approval, which is not something any agent can actually influence since eligibility is calculated from survey data, not decided case by case at a counter.
If someone asks for payment before telling you your BISP or Ehsaas status, that alone is a signal to stop and check the official portal yourself first.
Watch for these common red flags:
- Anyone asking for money specifically to "check eligibility" — this step is always free through the portal or SMS.
